Coming up on May 3, 2014 is the Annual Blogger Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry. From 9:00am to 5:00pm at 6th and Broadway, North little Rock, a motley assortment of bloggers, cooks, and other ne’er-do-wells will camp out and sell baked goods for No Kid Hungry.
Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungryis a national nonprofit that focuses on exactly what is in its name – leaving no kid hungry. One of the main avenues of awareness and fundraising is through a bake sale held across the nation on the same day spearheaded by bloggers. As a matter of pride, the Little Rock Blogger Bake Sale punches above it’s weight class. We raise a truly significant amounts of funds for No Kid Hungry, on par with Los Angeles and Austin. This is in no small part thanks to the amazing generosity of Arkansans. Once again, I will implore you to take part and share in some of the amazing products available.
There is a blog set up to chronicle and document the effort here. They have started a “Meet the Baker” series that profiles some of the individuals who will be providing baked goods this year, and they graciously included me.
I know that I don’t post a lot of baking recipes on the blog, but I love freshly baked bread more than I can explain. Last year, I pumped out focaccia and this year I am holding down the savory section of the bake sale again with yeast rolls! Even better, this is happening at the same time as the Argenta Farmer’s Market, so you can swing by both in one trip.
There is also an online auction of items going on ahe ad of the bake sale itself. Check it out! It includes the Award winning Sweet Potato Pie from Kelli Marks at Sweet Love; a private cake decorating class with Zara Abbasi, and baking pans from Eggshells Kitchen Company. More items may yet be added, so check back and bid with your heart.
